Keeping Christ at the Center

Dear Lord, during this time in preparation for the celebration of your birth, let me turn my attention to you and your love for me.  It’s so easy to get lost in the superficial preparations for the season—things like shopping and decorating are helpful diversions from contemplating more important things. 

Keep my heart focused on you even in the midst of all these many distractions. 

Let me find a way to turn all the tasks of my day into occasions of loving and serving you. 

May the celebration of your birth serve as a reminder of the suffering you endured for my salvation. 

May all I do this season give thanks for this tremendous gift.
