Listening in Silence

Lord, sometimes I think I am afraid of silence—not just with you but in all areas of my life.  In silence comes reflection and contemplation, which can often be challenging.  So many times I feel like I must fill the silence when I am in prayer with you.  Help me to remember that I can learn much more when I am quiet than when I am talking.  Teach me to listen with an open heart.  Let me trust that I can be in your presence by simply thinking of you with love.  Give me the patience to hear your voice within me.  Give me the grace to trust that you will show me the way.
