Persevering through Doubt

Lord, the pull that I sometimes feel towards doubt and dissatisfaction with my faith brings me great turmoil. I find myself wondering where you are in my life. When things go badly or I experience sadness, I often feel your absence instead of your presence and I even fear that I am unworthy of happiness. But when I hear these thoughts, I know that it is not you. Then, I remember the words of St. Francis of Assisi, “by the anxieties and worries of this life, Satan tries to dull man’s heart and make a dwelling for himself there.” Continue to help me fight these temptations away from faithfulness. Live in my heart and guide me always.
