People make a retreat for a variety of reasons from grappling with a crisis in their lives to needing help with an important decision.

A person stands in contemplation at an outdoor scenic overlook on a misty day, facing away from the camera. In the foreground is a large iron cross mounted on a stone pedestal at Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center. The background features layers of green trees and faint silhouettes of palm trees and cypress trees fading into the mist. Overhead, branches and hanging wisteria flowers frame the scene.

In choosing to attend a retreat, many retreatants experience a personal encounter with God through a balance of communal prayer, inspirational talks, silence and solitude, natural beauty and sacramental grace. This sacred time brings renewal for your body, mind and spirit.

A retreat is a special moment to step back from the demands and challenges of daily life. It is an opportunity to slow down, rest, and gain perspective.

A retreat affords graced time to renew faith, experience the presence of our loving God and to discover anew the energy and wisdom to continue life’s journey.

Be good to yourself – and to all those you touch in life and who depend upon you – seek the refreshment and renewal of heart, mind and spirit that comes from making a retreat.

Our Passionist retreat centers provide a beautiful and unique setting with ample space and facilities for corporate organizations, religious communities, church, school groups and others to gather for meetings.

Spiritual retreats are open to Catholics and non-Catholics.

The prayer and worship styles are Catholic because that’s who we are, but all are welcome!
