Celebrating Catholic Sisters Week

Join the Passionist Family in celebrating “Catholic Sisters Week,” March 8 to 14.

Catholic Sisters Week is a national celebration that shines a light on the spirit, service, and strength of Catholic Sisters across the country.

Together, we celebrate the lives and witness of women religious during Catholic Sisters Week as part of National Women’s History Month.

Each year, congregations come together to share their stories, uplift their ministries, and invite the wider community to learn more about the women whose lives are dedicated to prayer, compassion, and courageous action. Hosted by the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), the 2026 theme is “Stories of Hope and Heart.”

The blessing of Catholic Sisters

Women religious generously gift the Church and our world in a variety of ways. Year-round, by various lifestyles, women religious teach and offer healing, pray with and for the Church, stand with the poor and immigrants, share their unique spiritualities, help promote the vitality of our earthly common home and witness much-needed hope by fostering an experience of community.

“If God has a purpose for my life, I want to follow it.”

And the Passionist Sisters (Hijas de la Pasión y de María Dolorosa), a Mexican foundation, serve the Hispanic community in a variety of cities, including Lansing, MI, Carpentersville, IL, Lincoln, NE, and Dodge City, KS.

Another Passionist group are the Sisters of the Cross and Passion, serving in the northeast United States. Thankfully, vocational interest is being expressed for their communities.

As members of the Passionist Family, we thank God for their witness and ministries, and we join you in prayer for an ongoing increase in women responding to God’s call to religious life, especially to our Passionist Family.

May the global Church continue to be blessed by Catholic Sisters’ witness and ministries – their hope and their heart!
