The United States Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM) has designated May 1 as the day to celebrate the lives of all Religious Brothers in the Church.
On this day, we gladly celebrate their gifts and the rich history of their special vocation as they each live their community charisms and serve the Church at large in a variety of ways.
Who or what is a religious Brother?
Men who take vows of poverty, celibate chastity, and obedience and who live in a community but who are neither ordained ministers nor those studying to be ordained ministers.
From an overview of the brothers’ vocation from The Religious Brothers Conference
We continue to be blessed by the lives and ministries of our Passionist Religious Brothers!
They have served and do serve:
- As chaplains, teachers, artists, vocation ministers, chefs, carpenters, handymen and landscapers.
- In health care, community leadership, retreats and parish missions.
They live a full community life, and though not ordained, convincingly witness their personal dedication to faithfully proclaim the Good News of Jesus Crucified.
Pray with us for the six Passionist Religious Brothers of Holy Cross Province:

- Br. John Rockenbach, CP
- Br. Ray Sanchez, CP
- Br. Carl Hund, CP
- Br. Jerry Milazzo, CP
- Br. John Monzyk, CP
- Br. Kurt Wernert, CP
May they enjoy health, happiness and holiness, and may our Congregation be blessed with other generous men responding to God’s call to religious brotherhood.
