We had a fun and meaningful Earth day celebration at St. Paul of the Cross Passionist Retreat & Conference Center in Detroit on Sunday afternoon, April 26. The Dominican Center and St. Paul’s co-sponsored the event.
The sun was shining and most of the 55 participants walked the grounds and visited the 100 native trees planted in November 2025.
Tom Scherf, St. Paul’s Maintenance Supervisor gave an orientation to the plants and animals on the grounds.
The afternoon included Native American blessings, chants, and prayers, facilitated by Deacon Steve Morello, American Indian Minister for the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Joni Scott, St. Paul’s retreatant and spiritual director, gave the main reflection on what we learn from trees.
