Prayer for Spouses

Dear Lord,

We come to you as spouses, grateful for the gift of one another.
Hold our marriage in your hands, and teach us to love with patience, humility and mercy.

In joy, keep us thankful.
In trials, help us carry the Cross together with tenderness, honesty and peace.

Guard our words, heal what is wounded and renew our promises each day.
Make our home a place of gentleness and courage.

Help us forgive as we have been forgiven,
serve one another with joy and remain faithful when love is tested.

May our marriage reflect the power of your Passion:
that suffering can be redeemed,
that love can endure
and that hope will not disappoint.
