K-12 Schools

Rooted in faith, growing in compassion

Passionist schools are more than places of learning. They are communities of faith, compassion and transformation. Inspired by the Passion of Jesus Christ, our schools aim to educate the whole person: mind, heart and spirit.

For generations, Passionists have partnered with families and local communities to provide quality Catholic education grounded in Gospel values and the Passionist charism.

At the heart of our mission is a deep commitment to helping students grow in faith, discover their unique purpose and develop a compassionate heart for the world.

Our Schools

The Passionists serve in a number of educational institutions. Each reflects the local culture and community while remaining faithful to our shared mission.

The schools sponsored or endorsed by Holy Cross Province include Holy Family Catholic Academy and Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School.

Operated by The Passionists of Holy Cross Province, Holy Family Catholic Academy in Birmingham, AL, stands as a vibrant example of the Passionist commitment to education and community.

From its origins in Ensley in the 1940s to its current mission, Holy Family reflects the Congregation’s dedication to serving underserved communities through compassionate, faith-filled education.

The school serves grades Pre-K through 2nd as the only parochial, accredited elementary school in the city, rooted in Gospel values and the Passionist charism.

We actively support students academically, spiritually and pastorally, partnering with parents and faculty to nurture each child’s gifts and guide them toward a hopeful future.

Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School

Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School, in Birmingham’s Titusville neighborhood, beautifully embodies the Passionist commitment to serving youth with compassion, faith and educational opportunity.

Originally founded in 1943 by Holy Cross Province as Holy Family High School in Ensley, the school embraced the Cristo Rey model in 2007 to better serve economically disadvantaged students.

Still currently endorsed by the Passionists, the school integrates a rigorous college‑prep curriculum with a Corporate Work Study Program. Students work five days per month at local businesses, helping to fund their education and gain real-world experience.

The move in 2019 to the former Center Street Middle School in Titusville provided a modern, unified campus with science labs, media facilities, athletic spaces and enhanced security.

With a 100% college acceptance rate and graduates persisting in college at far higher rates than peers, the school’s impact speaks to the Passionist mission of transforming lives through education, faith formation and compassionate accompaniment.
