The Martyrs of Daimiel were a group of 26 Passionist priests and brothers who were killed during the violent anti-religious persecution of the Spanish Civil War. Taken from their monastery in Daimiel, they were imprisoned, mistreated and eventually executed for their faith.
Despite knowing their fate, they remained calm, forgiving their captors and encouraging one another with prayer and courage. Their witness of peace, unity and trust in God in the face of death stands as a powerful example of faith and fidelity to Christ and the Passionist charism.
