Hospitality and welcome were deep values in his culture, and it’s at the heart of the kingdom of heaven, too. He will welcome us into eternal life with the same care and hospitality.

Jesus is our ‘home’ and he is the centre of our world of meaning, belonging and authentic living.

On this day, we read the Passion from John’s Gospel – a gospel account that presents Jesus as victorious. It is our victory too.

Believe what you read, preach what you believe, and practice what you teach.

Today, we – from our resources of talent, time and capacity can carry him across – not across oceans necessarily – but across cultures, traditions, generations so that his message and healing presence might be known by many. 

John the Baptist orients us clearly towards Jesus as having primacy in our lives, and as the one to whom we should look to, and learn from.

Jesus' question in response to the apostles points us not to outside sources, but to our own deep inner and/personal capacity and resources.
