Today, we – from our resources of talent, time and capacity can carry him across – not across oceans necessarily – but across cultures, traditions, generations so that his message and healing presence might be known by many. 

John the Baptist orients us clearly towards Jesus as having primacy in our lives, and as the one to whom we should look to, and learn from.

Jesus' question in response to the apostles points us not to outside sources, but to our own deep inner and/personal capacity and resources. 

In today’s gospel, Jesus encourages us to exercise such generosity. In such ways, the reign of God is made manifest. 

Jesus by even being there, demonstrates once more the extraordinary dimensions of his ‘boundary breaking’ ministry...

Ignoring God in favour of our own perspectives or inflated sense of self-reliance is like closing a door and hiding from the relationship.
