Giving Without Seeking Reward

Lord, I don’t always give of myself with the proper intentions. I often find myself looking for something in return. When my good works go unnoticed or unrewarded, it disrupts my inner peace greatly. Help me to give unconditionally, with no hidden need for a show of gratitude or repayment from my neighbor. Forgive me for my lack of charity, when I always ask you to give to me so generously. Help me to remember the many times that I failed to give you proper thanks and you continued to bless me with your mercy. Let me give to others in that same spirit of love.
