Today, we are witnesses to miracle stories like the "Miracle of the Sun" at Fatima and the miracles of the apostles in Acts.

Reflection

On October 13, 1917, tens of thousands of persons gathered at Fatima—believers, skeptics, journalists, and photographers—seeking for the truth in the promise of a miracle. Reports followed which described the sun’s appearing to dance, radiate light, and change colors; even after hours of rain, clothing and the ground dried within minutes. In a time when Lisbon was called “the number one atheistic capital of the world,” and faith was under attack, these events stood as a powerful witness. The three children themselves endured threats of being boiled alive, yet did not recant.

This episode reminds me of the book of Acts, where Peter proclaims that Jesus was attested to by God through “mighty deeds, wonders, and signs.” Like Fatima, there were many witnesses to testify to the truth. Yet, in Luke’s Gospel, the disciples on the road to Emmaus fail to recognize Christ at first. How often do we do the same? Because of our human nature, we forget God’s works, even when they are before us.

Psalm 16 proclaims with confidence that God “will show us the path of life,” a promise fulfilled in Christ, the spotless, unblemished Lamb described in 1 Peter. Through Christ we are saved, and He invites us to live reverent lives of faith, with our hope in God alone.

Today, we are witnesses to miracle stories like the “Miracle of the Sun” at Fatima and the miracles of the apostles in Acts. I invite you to reflect on the miracles in your own life—those moments where God has revealed His presence. Remember them, hold onto them, and let them transform you, so that your life itself becomes a living testimony to His truth.
