Letter from the Provincial
Moments in Time
By Steve George
During the weekend of August 16-18, 2019, over 100 Passionist Formation Alumni of Holy Cross Province and invited guests gathered at St. Paul of the Cross Passionist Retreat and Conference Center in Detroit, Michigan. The weekend was filled with excitement, enthusiasm and energy when old friends reconnected and new friendships were formed.
On Saturday morning, Fr. Bob Weiss, CP, gave a presentation on Passionist Spirituality and how it lives in each of us. Fr. John Schork, CP, gave an informative presentation on the state of the Passionist Family of Holy Cross Province and beyond. He focused on the Visioning Process and Vision Fulfillment currently underway in the province, vocation efforts, and the growing partnership with lay Passionists.
Saturday afternoon included a tour of the old Passionist Monastery next door to the retreat center, and also a trip to the Ford plant to see the assembly of an F150 truck. Some of the attendees visited the Motown Museum, and the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.
The reunion culminated on Sunday morning with a celebration of the Eucharist by Fr. John Schork, CP, and concelebrated by fellow alumni, Fr. Peter Berendt, CP; Fr. Bob Weiss, CP; Fr. Bob Knight; Fr. Richard Crager, SDB; and Fr. Phil Paxton, CP.
