On Sunday, September 15, the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Passionist Community of Mater Dolorosa hosted a celebration, marking the 100th anniversary of continuous presence in Sierra Madre, California.
The celebration consisted of three memorable moments: The Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Rita’s church, storytelling by Passionists whose families lived in Southern California and a meal enjoyed by more than
350 people who came to celebrate with the Mater Dolorosa Passionist Community.
After the Mass, the celebration moved to Mater Dolorosa, in the area known as the Fiesta grounds, where Passionists shared their stories of growing up in Southern California and the Passionist influence in their lives. Guests enjoyed a fabulous meal prepared by Mijares Mexican Restaurant in Pasadena, California.
Many thanks to Holy Cross Province and Fr. Vimal Backiyaraj, CP, for the photos.
