A Passionist Prayer
January 27, 2020
from St. Paul of the Cross
"The aversions which you experience, the ridicule, the scorn, the jokes, etc., should be received with great gratitude towards God. These serve as the pyre of love on which the victim of love is burned. Gently drive away all aversions and show yourself cordial to everyone. I leave you free to do as God will show you."
Lord, I thought that nasty behavior would be left on the playground as I grew up. Instead, I have continued to find many people who do not have love in their heart for their neighbors. Give me the courage to continue to always act with kindness and compassion, even though I may be hurting from the cruelty of others. Forgive me for feeling animosity towards those who may be less than considerate. Let me instead always look for the goodness in others. Teach me to love as you did, even in the face of great unkindness.
