Parish Missions
Preaching during parish missions continues to be a hallmark ministry for the Passionists of Holy Cross Province. For centuries we have followed in the footsteps of our founder, St. Paul of the Cross, and preached wherever we have been invited.
While the life-changing love, compassion, mercy, healing and hope that God offers us through Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection are timeless, contemporary culture changes. As Passionists, we read the signs of the times and preach an eternal truth in ways that are relevant and transformative. The use of humor, stories rooted in life, and scripture, are the vehicles through which a Passionist preacher helps the parish reflect on the demands of contemporary culture and the need for spiritual grounding.
Passionist priests provide missions in English, Spanish and Korean. If your parish would like to have a Passionist preach a mission, contact: Fr. Blaise Czaja, CP Tel: 916 509 0072 email: [email protected]
Meet some of our preaching team:
Fr. Blaise Czaja, CP, had a life-changing experience while attending a Passionist-preached parish mission as an eighth-grader. As a result of the mission, he became a vowed Passionist. Preaching for parish missions has been his lifelong ministry. As a seasoned preacher, he is a very popular and well received.
Fr. Cedric Pisegna, CP, has embraced new and creative mediums for preaching that offer opportunities for people to renew their faith journey, to pray more meaningfully or for some to begin a whole new relationship with God. Along with preaching during parish missions, Fr. Cedric sees the digital landscape as territory for preaching. For more information on Fr. Cedric’s ministry, visit his website: www.frcedric.org.
Fr. Robert Weiss, CP, has a deep devotion to the preaching ministry. Preaching is an honored Passionist tradition and Fr. Bob’s love for the ministry has added to that tradition for over 37 years as an itinerate preacher. Fr. Bob has seen the true power in the Word as preached missions continue to offer profound moments of grace.
Fr. Jack Conley, CP, has been a Passionist for over 45 years. “Not only is it the lens through which I perceive reality, it is more of who I am than anything else. At the risk of sounding sentimental, sometimes I’ll catch myself after a couple of hours in the confessional during a Parish Mission, or cooking a special supper because it’s the birthday of one of the Passionists in my community, or simply reading a good book on spirituality in my room… and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. I am so lucky to be a Passionist.” Preaching parish missions gives Fr. Jack the opportunity to meet new people and to help them discover a renewed connection to God and to love in their faith. Fr. Jack continues to be inspired by Pope Francis. “I think Pope Francis said it best, ‘Let the Church always be a place of MERCY and HOPE, where everyone is welcomed, loved and forgiven.’”
