Play golf and support a very important project – Mater Dolorosa’s “Save our Trees” Project!

A sunny day  *  Golf  *  Friends  *  Lunch  *  Refreshments on the Course  *  Fun  *  Dinner and Hosted Social  *  Great prizes

Join our golf chair, Pat Wickhem, for a fun day at Glendora Country Club.  Last year was a full course so register early!

Register your friends and family in a foursome and invite your spouse or significant other to join us for the social and dinner afterwards at Mater Dolorosa.

Your participation will help Mater Dolorosa save the beautiful trees on the property.  The retreat center has struggled to maintain all of our landscape during the recent years of drought.  Our trees have been hit especially hard.  We have redirected maintenance resources to provide special attention to the trees to treat the infestations and have altered allocations of water to support the trees.

Our Building and Grounds Committee is actively working on developing a system of drip irrigation using gravitational pull to deliver water to specific trees.  Progress on this project depends on securing a source for funding.  The proceeds from our 11th Annual Golf Classic will support this dire need.

My Year End Gift to Mater Dolorosa

“Such a special place for me. If you are having a hard time figuring-out what God’s plan is for you, spend a weekend         here and hear Him speak to you…”  A Retreatant

Please Scroll down to make your year end gift to Mater Dolorosa.

In the book of Hosea, God invites us “to come to the desert to pray and He will speak to our hearts.”  In the stillness of the sacred grounds of Mater Dolorosa, spirits are nourished with the solitude of silence, meditation and prayer.  For people of faith, like you and me, a weekend retreat is not a luxury, it is a necessity.

This past year more than 2,000 men and women experienced a renewal of their faith, the love of God and hope in their lives at their weekend retreat.  Many of them were able to attend because of your generous gifts.

We want to thank you and express our gratitude for your continued loyal support of the Passionist mission and ministry that enables us to offer weekend retreats and special programs to so many men and women year after year. You are a special member of the Mater Dolorosa family.

It is through your spirit of generosity that we welcome all who wish to hear the message of the Passion. That is why I humbly ask you to consider making a special year-end gift today of $25, $50, $100, $500, $1,000 or whatever you can give.  You can take comfort in knowing that your gift has helped to transform the life of someone who is in need of God’s special grace.

The Passionist Community, the staff and the Board of Directors who work to serve you, our Mater Dolorosa Family, join me in thanking you for your generous support and love.

May your family be filled with joy and love during the beautiful seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas.  You remain in our prayers.

P.S.  For tax purposes, year-end donations must be received in the Retreat Center Office, postmarked, or made online no later than December 31, 2016.

The Crucified One is No Stranger

MDRC Theme

The crucified one is no stranger.  This is a bold, even daring statement.  The crucified one is Jesus on the cross.  But the crucified one is still present and living among us.

The theme of our retreat is “The Crucified One is No Stranger.”  We will explore the question we all ask many times: Is God truly present in our lives?  Not just in the beautiful and graced moments, but even in the broken and dark places?

With the eyes of Christ, we can recognize his presence among us.  He is one like us.  And we need not look far to encounter the crucified one in others:  our family, friends or co-workers.  They may have been crucified by life’s circumstances, or worse, by us.  Closer still, the crucified one may be me.  Do I crucify myself by my inability to forgive myself, to forgive others, or to forgive life for being so unfair?

The Crucified One is No Stranger.  He is present among us.  And from the cross, his cross and ours, Christ calls us to hope.  He summons us to resurrection.  And most mysteriously, even as the crucified and risen Jesus invites us to recognize him in his wounds, we will come to recognize ourselves in new life.
