Day of Reflection on Bereavement

Day of Reflection_bereavementTuesday, September 15, 2015
9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

On the occasion of the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, chief patroness of the Congregation of the Passion, Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center is hosting a day of reflection on bereavement. The topic will be approached from the psychological, human and faith perspectives.

Speakers will be psychologist Dr. Laura Jeffries and three friends of the Retreat Center, Mrs. Kate Mimms, Mrs. Karla Goudet, and Mr. Bob DeBesse, who will share their personal experience of loss.

Join us as we pray and share on this day with a topic that affects us all.

The suggested offering for the day is $40 which includes breakfast pastries, coffee and lunch. The day will end with the celebration of Mass.

Register online, or download and print the registration form: 2015 Day of Bereavement

Retreat Theme 2015-2016
Mercy: A Glimpse into the Heart of God

In keeping with this Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, we are invited to gaze upon Jesus Christ, the face of the Father’s Mercy. With the help of Scripture, Pope Francis and St. Paul of Cross, we will begin to unveil God’s free gift of mercy to understand what it means to “Be merciful just as your Father is merciful.” Luke 6:36

To enrich your retreat experience we suggest the following sources:

Pope Francis’ BULL OF INDICTION to the JUBILEE OF MERCY

Church of Mercy – a collection of homilies by Pope Francis

In addition, this year we will be praying the Liturgy of the Hours which is prayer of the universal church and has been used for centuries. To gain a further understanding of this tradition of prayer, you are invited to read: The Everyday Catholic’s Guide to the Liturgy of the Hours by Daria Sockey

Download and print our Catholic Retreat Registration Form and send via US Post, fax or in person (we’d love to see you!).

12 Step Programs

12 Step RetreatsIn addition to hosting a variety of Catholic retreat programs, Holy Name continues its thirty year tradition of supporting Twelve Step Recovery Programs for  people in Southeast Texas.

Visit our registration page to see what’s available and to register online.  Or you can download and print our 12 Step Retreat Registration Form and send it via US Post, fax or in person (we’d love to see you!) 12 Step Meeting days and times are listed at the bottom of this page.

  • Step Study Weekends for those working 12 Step Programs begin Friday evenings with steps 1,2, and 3 and conclude with step 12 on Sunday mornings.
  • There are regular meetings in Neilson Hall throughout the week
  • The Retreat Staff knows the meaning and purpose of the Steps, reverences the principle of anonymity, and encourages the personal search for “a God of my understanding.”
  • The Retreat Center is committed to the 12 Steps as a guideline for recovery, providing regular meeting space along with 12 Step Study Weekends.  To accommodate the many who desire to come on 12 Step Study Weekends, we ask that you limit your attendance to a maximum of two (2) weekends each year (more if you are willing to be on a waiting list).  Participants “give” the weekend by their personal sharing. Staff members offer additional insight, and are available for personal consultation and 5th Step work.
  • The weekend fee is $210 per person, with a Financial Aid Program for those needing and requesting financial help. Reservations can be made online, or with our registration form via US Post, fax or in person (we’d love to see you!).  Sorry, “walk ins” are not allowed.
  • The Retreat Center mailing lists are a vehicle for announcing upcoming programs of interest, and respect the principles of confidentiality and anonymity.  Call the Office  at 713 464 – 0211  to place your name on a specific list.
