9^th Station: Jesus Falls the Third Time

Call: We adore you, O, Christ, and we bless you.

Response: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world.

“But as for me, I will look to the Lord, I will put my trust in God my savior; my God will hear me. Rejoice not over me, O my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will arise; though I sit in darkness, the Lord is my light.” Micah 7:7-8.

Meditation prayer:

Lord, Jesus as you tried to pick yourself up even knowing that Calvary awaited your arrival, you found the strength and courage to keep moving. Breath by breath, you stumbled forward carrying the weight of your cross. We focus today on those who carry their heavy burdens not knowing what awaits them except that they cannot fall where they are but must keep going. Perhaps, they carry their child or children, a sick parent, family or friend. We pray for those who labor to bring a child into the world under these conditions. Cool the temperatures; send them food to nourish their bodies. Give them peace in their souls; send your angels to minister to them. Wake up our world to their plight and the plight of all who suffer this day. May I hold their pain in my heart today.

9* Novena Estación: Jesús cae por tercera vez

“Pero en cuanto a mí, voy a buscar al Señor, voy a poner mi confianza en Dios, mi salvador; Mi Dios me oirá. ¡Mi enemigo no se reirá de mí! Aunque he caído, me levantaré; aunque esté en tinieblas, el Señor es mi luz” Miqueas 7: 7-8.

Meditación:

Señor, Jesús así como trataste de mantenerte de pie, sabiendo lo que iba a pasar en el Calvario, encontraste la fuerza y la valentía para seguir adelante. De suspiro en suspiro, te tropezaste, pero seguiste hacia adelante llevando el peso de la cruz. Nos centramos hoy en los que llevan sus cargas pesadas sin saber lo que les espera. No pueden caer donde están, porque deben seguir adelante. Tal vez llevan a su hijo o hijos, un pariente o amigo enfermo. Oramos por los que trabajan para traer un niño al mundo en estas condiciones. Enfriar el clima; enviarles alimentos para nutrir sus cuerpos. Dales la paz en sus almas; envía tus ángeles para que los guíen y ayudan. Que el mundo despierte y esté consciente de esta difícil situación y la situación de todos los que sufren este día. Que yo pueda tener presente su dolor en mí corazón hoy día.

10^th Station: Jesus is Stripped of His Garments

Call: We adore you, O, Christ, and we bless you.

Response: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world.

“Though he was harshly treated, he submitted and opened not his mouth; like a lamb led to the slaughter or a sheep before the shearers, he was silent and opened not his mouth.” Isaiah 53:7.

Meditation prayer:

Lord, God, many of our brothers and sisters have had to flee their homes leaving all their possessions behind them. They had no choice! They have been stripped of everything. Bring sense to this situation. Clothe those who have nothing. Thank you for those who are helping to save them every day. Bless those who bring the stories of bravery and miracles to light. Protect all those who wander far from home today. May I welcome the stranger in need today.

Señor, Dios, muchos de nuestros hermanos y hermanas han tenido que huir de sus hogares dejando todas sus posesiones. ¡No tenían otra opción! Han sido despojados de todo. Dale sentido a esta situación. Dale ropa a los que tienen nada. Gracias por aquellos que están ayudando a salvarlos cada día. Bendice a los que traen los cuentos de valor y milagros a la luz. 11^th Station: Jesus is Nailed to the Cross

Call: We adore you, O, Christ, and we bless you.

Response: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world.

“Those passing by reviled him, shaking their heads and saying, ‘You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself, if you are the Son of God come down from the cross. Likewise the chief priests with the scribes and elders mocked him and said, ‘He saved others; he cannot save himself. So he is the king of Israel! Let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now if he wants him’” Matthew 27:39-43a.

Meditation prayer:

Lord, Jesus, it breaks my heart that you had to suffer for my sins. Yet, I know it had to be for the salvation of the world. You wiped out everlasting sin for all who choose to follow you. The suffering in Iraq and the Middle East and throughout the rest of the world seems so senseless, yet, somehow, we believe that your hand is there. Again we cry out to you; bring peace, send courage and strength to our brothers and sisters. Glory to you, Lord Jesus, Lamb of God; take away the evil from our midst; show us the way forward. Show me how to love today.

“Los que pasaban lo injuriaban, meneando la cabeza y diciendo: ‘Tú que podrías destruir el templo y reconstruirlo en tres días, sálvate a ti mismo, si eres Hijo de Dios, desciende de la cruz.’ Del mismo modo los jefes de los sacerdotes con los escribas y los ancianos se burlaban de él y le decían: ‘A otros salvó; él no puede salvarse a sí mismo. ¡Así que él es el rey de Israel! ¡Que baje ahora de la cruz, y creeremos en él! Meditación:

Señor, Jesús, me rompe el corazón que sufriste por mis pecados. Sin embargo, sé que tenía que ser para la salvación del mundo. Nos limpiaste del pecado para podíamos elegir a seguirte. El sufrimiento en Irak y el Oriente Medio y en todo el resto del mundo parece no tener sentido. Sin embargo, de alguna manera, creemos que tu mano está ahí. 12^th Station: Jesus Dies on the Cross

Call: We adore you, O, Christ, and we bless you.

Response: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world.

“After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, ‘I thirst.’ There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, ‘It is finished.’ And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.” John 19:28-30

Meditation prayer:

Lord, Jesus, our brother, your death on the cross was the triumph of good over evil. You handed over the spirit to the Father. Your work was done. In this is our hope. We hear of many miracles of strength and courage amidst all the fear and anxiety. We know that your presence still walks and lives in our world today; even if the world is unmindful of this fact, we are not! Send down your consolation to all those who mourn. Lord, lead out the people who are blind though they have eyes, who are deaf though they have ears. Isaiah 43:8. Change the hearts of those who persecute our brothers and sisters., We call upon your power to touch them so that they can see and hear your words of love and peace. May you open my eyes and ears this day to hear your word.

“Después de esto, consciente de que todo estaba cumplido, para que la Escritura se cumpliese, Jesús dijo, ‘Tengo sed.’ Había un recipiente lleno de vino común. 13^th Station: Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross

Call: We adore you, O, Christ, and we bless you.

Response: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world.

“Yet it was our infirmities that he bore, our sufferings that he endured, while we thought of him as stricken, as one smitten by God and afflicted. But he was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins, upon him was the chastisement that makes us whole, by his stripes we were healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5

Meditation prayer:

Mary, Mother of Sorrows, you held the broken body of your son in your arms; be with all who do the same this day. Hold the pain of their broken lives in your arms, we pray. Make our world whole! Intercede for us at the throne of grace. “Cleanse our consciences from dead works to worship the living God.”Hebrews 9:14b Please, do not stop holding those who suffer today. May I hold their pain in my heart this day.

14^th Station: Jesus is Placed in the Tomb

Call: We adore you, O, Christ, and we bless you.

Response: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world.

“Having brought a linen cloth, he took him down, wrapped him in the linen cloth and laid him in a tomb that had been hewn out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Jesus watched where he was laid.” Mark 15:46-47.

Meditation prayer:

Dear Jesus, I weep for all those who have to bury their dead this day. Refresh their weary souls. Give eternal rest to those who have died. Call us all to new life in you. Heavenly Father, help me to see myself in relation to our world today. Help me to recognize the ways my words, habits, decisions and un-forgiveness affects all of your creation. Fill me with your story of unity and compassion and love. Help me to understand that your creative Word made Flesh is worthy of my best efforts to forgive, to heal and to love. May I bring unity rather than division, inclusion rather than exclusion. Lead me to your fundamental truth that we are all one.

“¡Y con todo eran nuestras dolencias las que él llevaba y nuestros dolores los que soportaba! mientras que pensábamos en él como azotado, herido por Dios y humillado. Pero él fue traspasado por nuestras ofensas, aplastado por nuestros pecados. Él soportó el castigo que nos traería la paz, por sus heridas hemos sido curados.” Isaías 53: 4-5

Meditación:

María, Madre Dolorosa, que tomó en sus brazos el cuerpo destrozado de su hijo; sostén a todos los que hacen lo mismo el día de hoy. 15^th Station: Jesus Rises from the Dead

Call: We adore you, O, Christ, and we bless you.

Response: Because by your holy Cross, you have redeemed the world.

The Empty Tomb: “On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark and saw the stone removed from the tomb” John 20:1

Meditation prayer:

Lord, Jesus, we look to tomorrow with hope in your resurrection. We know that the tomb will be empty of death and destruction. You have won the victory over death. Worthy are you to receive honor and glory. We give thanks for the seeds of resurrection which are being sown in hearts today. For the food and help sent to the war torn areas. We thank you for the peace keepers-keep them safe. We thank you for the people of goodwill everywhere who long for your justice to come and look for it daily with hope. We believe you will make a new heaven and a new earth. We know you dwell with us. Please wipe away every tear and bring new life to our world. We pray in your holy name. Amen.

Señor, Jesús, miramos al futuro con esperanza en tu resurrección. Sabemos que la tumba estará vacía de la muerte y la destrucción. Has ganado la victoria sobre la muerte.
